As a native son and lifelong resident of East Point, my passion for serving our community runs deep. I’ve witnessed our city evolve over the years, but we still have many rivers to cross. I currently work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as an epidemiologist.
As a lifelong resident of East Point, my passion for serving our community runs deep. I’ve witnessed our city evolve over the years, but we still have many rivers to cross. I’m running to become your Ward C Council member because East Point needs a fresh perspective and attainable vision for citywide economic growth; maximizing re-development opportunities downtown and becoming a city that welcomes the work, live, and play model. We must champion the urgent need to keep East Point litter-free by cultivating community pride within our neighborhoods, business districts, and schools. I am dedicated to being a diplomatic servant-leader committed to working with the city council and our community to advance these bold goals. In speaking with many of you on the campaign trail, I’ve repeatedly heard you say, “East Point Can Do Better” and I wholeheartedly agree. Yes, we can, and together we will.
I was appointed to the East Point Building Authority in 2021. I am also a former candidate for the East Point At-Lage, Ward D City Council seat. I have also participated in a number of community service activities that took place in East Point.
As a native of East Point, I’ve witnessed our city evolve over the years. While we’ve made significant recent strides, the city is at a critical point in terms of growth. I’m running to become the Ward C council member because I understand the need to seize opportunities for smart economic development. We must be willing to diversify our tax base (without causing harm) in a way that will attract the types of businesses that our residents desire to see in East Point. I am committed to being a diplomatic servant-leader by working with residents, business stakeholders, and the city council to make certain we identify an achievable vision for East Point. Our growth as a city should not compromise the quality of life for anyone. Our growth must be representative of an East Point for everyone.
My campaign platform is based upon the voices of concern from the community. My priorities include promoting smart economic development and a more “business-friendly” culture; championing for a litter-free East Point and supporting improved public safety efforts. These goals work in tandem towards becoming a city that fosters growth by improving efficiencies in our government services such as the permitting and licensing processes. Keeping our city clean requires an “all hands-on deck” layered approach to achieve community pride. I will garner the assistance of resident volunteers and business sector commitments to work alongside city campaigns to counter litter blight in the city. Supporting our public safety department is imperative to boosting the morale of the guardians who keep our city safe. My role as a council member is vital in that local leaders are deemed as community liaisons in the three-legged stool approach to community policing. I will support recommendations from our police and fire personnel for equipment, technology, and weaponry funding; incentives for recruitment and retention, and strategies to reduce crime city-wide.
If elected, I would sponsor (with the support of the council) the creation of a Small Business Commission. Small businesses are the backbone of the nation but also vital to the pulse of our city. The COVID-19 pandemic tested a number of businesses beyond the imaginable. As some businesses struggle to bounce back or get started, I’d like to establish a network where small business owners can come together to provide support, identify resources, and obtain assistance with completing city services particularly as we look towards a post-COVID-19 city.
Planning and Community Development - I appreciate the hard work of our city departments. Based upon comments throughout the community, I feel the Department of Planning and Community Development needs the most improvement. Primarily in terms of improved communication, accessibility to representatives, and timely turnaround on service requests such as permitting. The city charter does not allow for councilmembers to interfere with day-to-day operations. My best option as a city council member is to relay the community’s concerns to the City Manager’s office. Further action if required can be considered by placing the concerns on the city council agenda for discussion.
I am not able to do so!

Awaiting the candidate's response.
