I am a people person and enjoy seeing others achieve their best selves. My pronouns are She/Her/Hers. I am a lifelong learner and enjoy healthy challenges. I look at problems as opportunities for growth. I have lived in Egan Park for four years and have attended church in East Point for over 30 years.
As a retired administrator with several years as a public servant, I have gained skills and experience partnering with families, businesses, and communities that I believe can help strengthen our East Point community. I was responsible for balancing million-dollar budgets in accordance with rules and regulations from different funding sources. I was always fiscally responsible when spending taxpayers' dollars. Since I am retired and the owner of a small business, my schedule is flexible; I am accessible and able to focus on the work of the city council. I also understand the role from the business aspect since I own a small business. While I have several years of meaningful work experience, my educational training is also an asset since I have a Ph.D. in leadership. I have met several residents and enjoy serving people.
Working to improve the permitting process; I believe that the Townhall meeting and getting residents' and businesses' input has led to substantive changes, including relaxing the requirement for contractors to become double bonded. This is decreasing the time that it takes to get permits.
I would like to make East Point a better place to learn, live, work, and play. It gives me great joy to serve my fellow neighbor.
I would like to attract businesses and build partnerships through healthy redevelopment and smart growth which will bring in more revenue. I support a combination of raising the homestead exemption for everyone and possibly lowering the age for senior citizens who are eligible to receive support for the rising cost of taxes because of anticipated growth. I would like to create structured and intentional ways to engage everyone so that everyone feels as though they are included, and thus, willing to engage in moving East Point forward.
Rebuild Trust in City Government through creating transparent processes and procedures.
City Manager Office - the city needs clearly articulated standards operating procedures. This is the responsibility of the City Manager's office. Transparency is very important to re-establish trust in the city officials. The City Manager's Office needs strong leadership principles and actions to bring about change.
Supporting the Cultural Arts Department headed by Christopher Swain. We have diverse and culturally enriching events in our city.
Honoring the former Mayor Patsy Jo Hilliard by adding a mural to the apartment building with thoughtful artistry and powerful messaging.
Restoring Trust in City Government.
Ways to address speeding and reduce crime.
It has been my honor serving as the City Council Representative for Ward B. If I am fortunate to be re-elected, I will continue to be a champion for making East Point a great place to call home through continuing to listen to my constituents and working collaboratively with each community.
